2Water Rats LeagueWater Rats LeagueTime: 6:20 pm - 9:00 pm The Water Rats is a very competative league that has been running for over ten years. We pride ourselves in being a professionally run league, where you can still have fun. We are made up of 4-person teams and play according to a handicap system. This gives equal opportunity to bowlers from beginner level all the way up to national competitor level. We are a money league so we do not give trophies at the end of the year, but rather prize money. Every team that participates receives a prize, but the top three finishing teams receive the biggest prize. There are also individual and team record prizes up for grabs at the end of each year. Water Rats runs from the first Monday after government schools go back in January, until late November, ending the year with a prize giving dinner. We therefore welcome all bowlers to join us on a Monday at 18H20 for a three game competition ending at about 21H00. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to visit or join the league. The costs associated with our league are minimal at only R30 for 3 games. – There are not many places where you can have so much fun at that price. We receive free tea and coffee compliments of Northcliff Bowl and we supply the biscuits. We are a very social club and have a lot of fun while keeping fit at the same time. Pin Rattlers LeaguePin Rattlers LeagueTime: 6:45 pm - 9:00 pm Our league currently comprises of 10 teams with 4 players in each team. Although we are a social league we do have beginners, amateurs, novices, tournament and provincial bowlers that participate in this league. To level out the playing field, each bowler is allocated a handicap. The league is played over a period of 45 weeks and commences at 18:45 every Wednesday evening with 10 minute warm up. There are monthly cash prizes for the club 200; highest scratch game male; highest handicap game male & female; highest trios and doubles games. There is also a weekly accumulative 300 club jackpot. The cost of the league is R60.00 for linage and R40.00 for prize fund per week. A great sport to socialize, make new friends, release your frustrations and just to have fun. If you are interested in participating, please call contact the league president, Calvin Way on 083 442-2777. | 5 | 6Silver Streak leagueSilver Streak leagueTime: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm We are a Wednesday morning pensioners league which runs from 10h00 until 12h30. We play three games at a cost of R30. Most of us have been playing for well over 25 years and are still competitive, keeping score and awarding trophies and fun awards to our top male and female bowlers. Whilst most of us have our own bowling equipment, “house” equipment is also available to players. The aim of our league is to socialise and have fun. Jan Coetzee, League President | 7Alley Cats LeagueAlley Cats LeagueTime: 9:00 am - 11:30 am For the past 21 years we have run a tenpin bowling league for people who have intellectual disabilities. The bowlers range in age from their early twenties to some now in their fifties and sixties. Their abilities vary from those who may never be brilliant bowlers but who enjoy the weekly get together, to those who are excellent bowlers, with a couple bowling in other week night leagues. Many of our bowlers live and work at residential facilities and some live at home and work in sheltered employment or have jobs in the open market. At present we have about 55 bowlers with about 25 coming each week. During the year we have a few Alley Cats tournaments and our very top bowlers take part in other leagues and provincial tournaments. Some have participated at Special Olympics World Games as well. The Alley Cats league bowls at Northcliff Bowl in Johannesburg from 09.00 to ±11.30 every Saturday. Anyone interested in seeing the Alley Cats in action (and perhaps knows someone who may wish to join) is welcome to come and watch. It’s a busy morning so please call first!
